Do you think makeup and skincare go hand in hand? Every girl wants to look her beautiful best all the time. Do you rely only on makeup for that or skincare is equally essential in that prospective?
I take my skincare seriously, as I am into makeup. Every day I feed my skin some amount of harsh chemicals in the form of makeup. In order to compensate for that, I like to pamper my skin with a proper skincare regime! And no to forget, a healthy skin is the key to achieve a flawless makeup!
I swear by facial toners! I have quite a few open pores and I get break outs occasionally. So toner comes for rescue in order to keep a check on pore size as well as to maintain pH level of my skin.
But most of the toners we get in the markets contain quite a high level of alcohols which eventually causes skin dryness! So I am always in search for gentle alcohol free toner and I have been using pure rose water for the purpose of skin toning since quite long. If you have read my skincare routine, you already know how much I like fabindia rose water. My current one was going to get over and I headed to the nearest fabindia store on a fine Sunday afternoon for a backup! But to my disappointment, the rose water was out of stock there L I finally picked up this Lotus Rosetone facial toner as a substitute from Health & Glow ( my mall trip is incomplete without a visit to Health & Glow)!
In this post I am sharing the product details and my experience using it! So let’s start, shall we?
What Lotus Herbals Says About the Product:
Lotus Rosetone Rose Petals facial toner completes the perfect cleansing routine. Rose water and Tulsi tones up the skin while Aloe Vera nourishes, revitalizes, hydrates and maintains the natural pH balance of the skin, keeping it fresh and clean.
After cleansing, wipe face and neck with cotton moistened with Rose Petals Toner. Can be used as a cleanser to remove superficial impurities.
Price: INR 265 for 100 ml
My Experience with the Product:
The product comes in a tall transparent plastic bottle with a cap which shuts securely. However, it cannot be called perfect for travelling as the packaging is kind of bulky. The spray mechanism works perfectly making sure that product gets dispensed evenly while spraying.
Texture, Smell and Color:
Like any other facial toner, product itself is in liquid form. Post application on the skin, it does not feel sticky or uncomfortable at all, rather it imparts a nice soothing feel which I love! As I expect from any rose flavored product, it smells absolutely divine, just like some freshly crushed rose petals. Some might find it little artificial though, but not an issue for me as it is not overpowering! In the clear plastic bottle, the color of the toner appears to be kind of faint pink, but it neither stains the cotton nor the facial skin while application.
I like rose products, and a rose water is a must have in my skin care vanity. It is such a multi-tasker! I prefer using rose water than other skin toners as I am allergic to alcohol. Most of the toners cause itchiness and irritation to my skin due to the presence of alcohol, which does not happen with rose water! Adding to it, rose water is known to be a cooling and soothing agent for delicate facial skin. So I keep spraying rose water directly on my face whenever I feel and I just love the after effects!
With this particular toner, the experience has been equally good, if not better. I spray for good 5-6 times all over my face and start dabbing it with a piece of wet cotton. I do this after every face wash and the result is firmer, tighter and softer skin with reduced pore size. It does provide sufficient moisturization as well, giving me freedom to skip a separate moisturizer at times. I tried mixing it with my face packs too. Sometimes if I have time, I like to spray a bit of it over my dried face packs and then massage in circular motion for couple of minutes before the final rinse. I quite like how it turns out ultimately!
Now coming to the most interesting part, how I incorporate this in my makeup routine!! After regular CTM, I dot foundation all over my face and then spray rose water 1-2 times and then blend everything out together. If I use brush for blending foundation, I make sure to spray some rose water on the bristles before blending. I always find that blending becomes much easier and flawless this way! Especially if you have dry skin or dry patches, you should definitely try this to see the magic happen!
That’s not all, I even use it as a finishing spray. Once I am done with foundation, compact and all, I spray some rose water carefully all over my face. I hold the bottle keeping some distance from my face and keep moving my hand while spraying in order to make sure product gets distributed evenly! It eliminates the powdery-ness or cakey-ness of makeup. Those who do not want to invest in an expensive finishing spray, this is a nice trick to try out!
Summing up pros and cons for quick reference:
- Effective as a toner
- Alcohol free formula
- Suits my sensitive skin
- Smells great
- Goodness of tulsi and aloe vera along with rose petals
- Imparts softness and moisturization post application
- Can be used in multiple purposes
- Not completely chemical free
- The faint pink color. I don’t think pure rose water has any color to it
- Pricey! Pure rose water from brands like Patanjali or Fabindia comes way cheaper than this.
I am somewhat enjoying this facial toner of late! But I might not repurchase this if I get Fabindia or Patanjali ones. Having said that, it is not bad either. But it has lost some points due to the high price and presence of few chemicals.
That's it for now! Will see you soon J
