My Current Hair Care Routine

Hello beauties!
Like I was talking about my skincare regime the other day, I thought of sharing my hair care routine as well. Before I start, let me tell you some historical tales behind my tresses (LOL :p). I used to have very thick, wavy to straight, mid-length hair which was unruly, really frizzy, really dry with occasional minor dandruff issues. It was difficult to make them look presentable without little bit of heat styling.
Then I got hair rebonding done around 10 months ago. Ever since I have been using the products recommended by my stylist and following few after rebonding hair care tips she shared . Trust me ladies, I was never happier with my hair (touchwood!)

My regime is really simple, consisting of shampoo, conditioner, serum and hair oil. In addition to that, I go for hair spa once in a month. Nowadays we girls do not shy away from experimenting with our hair. As a result we end up applying lots of chemicals. Even then you can maintain healthy hair if you take good care and use right products. That is what has worked for my hair! So let’s get started…

L'Oreal Professionnel X-tenso Care Straight Shampoo

This is the shampoo I have been using post rebonding. I can’t stress enough how important it is to use products which specially target chemically straightened hair. I have seen lot of girls using normal shampoos on chemically treated hair. This not only shortens the life span of the chemical treatment you have done, but also takes a toll on overall health of your locks. This L’Oreal shampoo is specifically designed to take care of straightened hair, maintain the moisture balance and prevent dryness. It comes in a bottle of 230ml product and costs 550 INR. I generally shampoo every alternate day and one bottle lasts me for good 2-2.5 months.

L'Oreal Professionnel X-tenso Care Straight Masque

I use this masque from the same range as conditioner post shampooing. As I already said, I have oily scalp with dry ends. So I need a heavy duty conditioner for the lengths of my locks. This masque comes in a tub form as you can see in the image. The product itself is a thick white cream, much thicker than regular conditioners and provides some serious dose of hydration to my frizzy hair. I take a good amount of it, massage a bit on my palms and then apply along the length starting from the middle towards the tips. Then I leave it for couple of minutes and finally rinse well with water. Sometimes I use this masque before shampooing too as a mini home spa. Works quite well that way! Comes in 200ml huge tub for 650 INR.

L'Oreal Professionnel Expert Liss Unlimited Evening Primrose Oil

This is the best of all the serums I have used till date! It controls frizz to a great extent, provides lot of shine and softness, manages flyaway hairs, keeps hair in shape for long and what not! After washing, I take this serum on palms and run my fingers through wet hair to detangle them.  Sometimes my hair looks limp and lifeless on days when I do not shampoo. Then what all I need to bring them back to life is few drops of this serum! 125ml bottle costs INR 650.

Hair oil

I oil my hair once in a week with almond oil. I have already expressed my love for this miracle oil here. I massage my scalp and hair shafts with warm almond oil and leave it for couple of hours before washing. Sometimes I add few more ingredients like honey, lemon juice or few drops of tea tree oil to it.
Before I finish, I will list down few after care tips that I have been following:

Ø  If you have done hair straightening or any other treatment, always ALWAYS use products designed for chemically treated hair.

Ø  Go for a spa suitable for your hair needs once in a month. I generally do keratin spa to combat dryness.

Ø  Do not tie your hair too tightly.

Ø  Never tie your hair when wet.

Ø  Do not comb your hair until they are completely dry. Use serum and detangle with your fingers.

Ø  Avoid using hair dryer as much as you can. Opt for natural air drying process instead.
Ø  Always apply heat protectants before going for heat styling.

Ø  Take extra care of your ends. Keep applying serum or light weight oil every now and then. This will prevent split ends.

Ø  Keep a check on your diet. Include protein rich food, dairy products, lots of vegetables and fruits.

So guys, this was all about how I take care of my hair and what products I use. I hope you liked it and found it useful. Do share your regime and tips you follow in the comment section.

I will be back very soon with another post !!

Until then, take care and stay beautiful J
