FACES Go Chic Eye Shadow Quad 'Aquamarine' Review

Hi there!

I am a self-proclaimed makeupholic, as you all know. But when it comes to eye makeup, most of the time I have a tendency to to be restricted to kohl, colored eye pencils and liquid/gel liners only. I am not much of an eye shadow girl, at least on an everyday basis. Occasionally I wear eye shadows but still I keep it simple and minimal, a single wash of color on my lids coordinating with my outfit.
But going with the huge smokey eye trend and watching thousands of YouTube videos,
I badly wanted to have a black eye shadow to try my hands on a simple black smoked out eyes on a festive occasion. Then I did bit of google and research and finally zeroed on this FACES Go Chic Quad in the shade Aquamarine.

Price: INR 299 for 4 strips of shadows

My Take on the Product:

Packaging:

Product houses in a rectangular flat plastic container with transparent lid. Brand name, Ingredient list and other related information are written on both the surfaces. It does not have a mirror attached inside but I really don’t mind as I never touch up my shadow on the go. Overall packaging can be tagged as sleek, basic, and secure enough to carry around.

Shades:

The quad contains four amazing shades! If I number the shades starting from left to right: 1 is a shimmery white highlighter shade, 2 is a shimmery to semi matte beautiful denim blue shade, 3 is a stunning semi matte sea green kind of a shade and 4 is a universal matte black shade
.
Texture:
All the 4 shades are buttery, super soft, not at all chalky or powdery, do not get patchy on application and blendable! Can you really ask for anything more from an eyeshadow at this price range?

Pigmentation:

As you can see from the hand swatch, pigmentation is moderately decent. All the shadows were swatched once on bare skin. I feel they fare even better on eyelids as far as pigmentation is concerned! An eye primer underneath will surely bring more vivid color out of them.

Wear time:
I have slightly oily lids and these shadows stay for 4-5 hours on an average with mild fading. But again, this time window is measured without any primer. The black one, being a dark shade, lasts little more.

My Thoughts and Suggestions:

Ø  The highlighter shade will look stark white on darker complexion. It is not the best highlighting shade for Indian complexion. I personally prefer some pale gold shade to highlight.

Ø  The highlighter shade can be used as overall lid color or as a base on some other color to create gradual color changing effect (if blended cleverly. I am yet to try that, will update if I do)

Ø  The blue shade is too cool toned for my warm skin tone, the least used shade in this quad.

Ø  The sea green shade is my favorite of all. This kind of shade really goes well with brown eyes and yellow skin.

Ø  The black shadow is free from shimmer and quite intense. It can be used in many ways to create different looks. This is the shade I reach out for most of the time.

Ø  The intensity of the color payoff is buildable. I found that picking up the shadow on fingertip and patting on lids gives best color payoff.

Now, this is the smokey eye look for which I bought this quad! It was a day time event. So I did not go overboard and kept the intensity not too dramatic. I applied only the black shadow and blended towards the crease to eliminate harsh edges. Also the highlighting shade under my brow bone (See how white is looks!)

This is another look I wore for a casual day outing. Just a light wash of the sea green shade with a fluffy brush and thick black kohl in the lower water line!

Listing down my likes and dislikes about the product for quick reference:

Likes:
þVery affordable
þ4 stunning shades
þDecent pigmentation, texture and blendability
þFunctional packaging
þGood amount of product for the price

Dislikes:
ý Not having an in-built mirror could be an issue for some
ýSponge tip applicator is of no use
ýLasting power is not too impressive

Final Verdict:
I think this is perfect for beginners who just started experimenting with eye makeup. Even if you are an expert, still you can get it if you like the shades. It won’t disappoint you for sure!  I might not repurchase this particular quad as this will last me for quite some more time but I will definitely check out other quads from this range!
